Media Treason

The media has committed treason. There was a day when America knew how to deal with this.
This article is a follow up to Public School Failure. Stay tuned for next week’s Citizen2Citizen announcement.
The Founders anticipated that corrupt leaders would ignore the Constitution. They turned to public education to teach the tools of learning to preserve and guard liberty. Through the Bill of Rights, specifically the First Amendment, they gave the people another tool of self-defense: the press.
The First Amendment guarantees the right to free speech and a free press. “Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press…” The reason for preserving a free press was so that the people would have a vehicle to rebuke the government for violating its power, in the words of the law, “to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
If we are not careful, conservative free speech, i.e. speech that’s critical of big government and supportive of individual freedom, could be taken away. Don’t think this is possible? Consider liberalism’s strategy to pass “hate crime” legislation and propel us down a slippery slope that could end up criminalizing any teaching of a moral code or expression of convictions against immoral lifestyles of homosexuality or the practice of abortion. Consider also the fact that the IRS already censors the pulpit by threatening to penalize pastors for commending a candidate based on the candidate’s views. I’m not saying pastors should necessarily order their congregations to vote a certain way, but the federal government and the IRS have no business telling pastors how to lead their flock. The Bible is sufficient for that.
If you don’t think the censorship of free speech is possible in America, would it surprise you to know that as early as the 1798, while the very men who passed the Bill of Rights were still governing, the Sedition Act was passed which criminalized slanderous writings against the government and resulted in Benjamin Franklin’s own grandson being arrested and having his newspaper shut down? Don’t think anti-government censorship is possible? It’s been going on for over 200 years, beginning with some of our own Founding Fathers.
The 1st Amendment clearly provides the press with a compelling mission: guard freedom by giving the people of the United States a voice to express their displeasure with intrusive government. The press should protect the Constitution. Yet, in recent times the press has abandoned this responsibility and tragically become a proponent for big government and an advocate for the loss of individual freedom and state’s rights.
The media endorses liberal candidates that want to grow the government, even though the Constitution prohibits the vast majority of modern day policies and government programs. The media attacks and slanders proponents of small government, religious freedom and protesters that seek to return to our founding principals.
The media ignores scandal, unless of course the scandal involves a conservative. The media does not check the facts or think critically about what liberals say, seemingly failing to notice the constant double-speak, hypocrisy and self-contradiction. The media condemns the use of our military to defend our national interests and freedoms from attack, calling such noble action and self-sacrifice “imperialism.”
Unwittingly, the press is playing a leading role in its own demise, and in America’s demise. By promoting ideology that quenches freedom, the press advocates its own loss of freedom. The press is actively seeking its own enslavement by greedily posturing itself as a propaganda machine for the next flawed leader to come down the pike. By getting in bed with the government, bankrupting itself and becoming therefore eligible for handouts, the media could end up being funded by the tax payer, a puppet and co-master with government over an increasingly enslaved nation, and a far cry from the beacon of freedom and voice of dissent she was intended to be.
The media has committed treason, defending our enemies. As a result, it is going bankrupt. The people have had enough. They don’t want propaganda. They want the media to resume its rightful place as a voice of dissent against big government and a voice of freedom.

So true. On a Christian note, I believe there is an unseen war going on. A battle for our kids minds and souls through ideas. Ideas that are sugar coated and only by knowledge and wisdom through the study of God’s truth can anyone see those ideas for what they really are, rat posion! Only through God’s Word this dark world is illuminated.
