Thank you for your help!

Yesterday I sent out an email with an urgent request to help Christian Coalition deliver voter guides to churches in Seminole County. These guides were delivered to my office on Friday for the primary vote on Tuesday.

Well, you guys responded and Citizen2Citizen delivered more than 30,000 voter guides to 75 churches, in the Sanford, Lake Mary, Longwood, Altamonte Springs, Winter Springs, Oviedo, Casselberry and Goldenrod areas. Not bad for a project that lasted less than 24 hours total.

Your response and volunteerism truly benefits the faith community. Thank you so much for your help! We recieved many expressions of gratitude from the pastors of these churches who anticipate these guides.

I will be sending out some alerts in preparation for the November voter guides. I hope we will have a bit more notice then. In the mean time, please hear my gratitude for your involvement today.

Who are you voting for August 24th?

As I mentioned in the previous email, primaries are just as important as the November election, and sometimes more difficult to navigate. Toward this end I am sending you some recommendations that I have made based on various conversations I’ve had with the candidates, political consultants, pastors and other leaders in the community.

Please do your own homework as well. I hope these recommendations are helpful to you in determining how you can cast a vote responsibly and help defend the freedoms we enjoy as American Citizens.

Happy Independence Day!

234 years ago today the greatest nation on earth was born. The founders of our country declared their Independence from the most powerful nation on earth at the time, and embarked on an American experiment that not only secured their freedom and ours, but has since provided liberty and justice for millions throughout the world.

Although we have in many respects lost our way due to the forces of liberalism that attempt to revise our heritage and threaten our liberty, every 4th of July is an opporunity to thank God that we still live in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Please enjoy your freedom today and give thanks for our nation’s founding, our Constitution, and those certain brave men in government at home and military abroad that are working to maintain that freedom for us all.

What’s up with Citizen2Citizen?

Before you go, I just wanted to let you know that there are some great things being planned for Citizen2Citizen. Personally, I’m working with the Yes on 9 Campaign (Florida Healthcare Freedom Act). Vote Yes on 9!

I am happy to announce that the Florida Health Care Freedom Act, which recently passed the Florida legislature, will be placed on the November ballot as Amendment 9. If 60% of Floridians vote Yes on 9 in November, we will take a giant step toward protecting against the enforcement of Obamacare in Florida.

I’m also pleased to announce that Citizen2Citizen will be coordinating with Liberty 4 Florida to work toward getting this amendment passed. I am a county chairman for the statewide effort, and am calling on all of Citizen2Citizen to volunteer to help out with this endeavor.

Some of you have already volunteered. I will be in touch with you shortly. If you have not volunteered, pleased visit the Florida Freedom Project volunteer page. Our goal is to have 100 volunteers in Orange and Seminole counties. If you are in another county, please contact me and I will put you in touch with activities in your county.

Here’s a general principal: it’s much easier to be vocal when you’re angry than when you’re grateful. We got the Florida Health Care Freedom bills on the ballot by relentlessly pounding our representatives doors telling them to vote for it.

Now they have voted for it, and I don’t think we should shut up just yet. Since they did what we asked, I believe they deserve our gratitude. If we express thanks to them for listening to our desires now, then it could also help them listen again the next time we need to get their attention.

We are working on plans to help get the word out to voters this November. But step one of the Florida Freedom Project (which you can voluteer for here) is to thank the elected officials who voted to put this on the ballot.

There are two ways you can do this:

1. Download the list and email them yourself: I have two lists. You can download the lists (list option one here, list option two here), copy in the email addresses and send them a note. Both of these lists contain the same addresses, they’re just formatted different ways depending on your email program.

NOTE: You might want to send two emails with 36 recepients on each instead of emailing the whole group to avoid spamming controls.

Please SHARE THIS PAGE and send these lists on to others to spread the word of gratitude.

2. Add your name to my email: I will be emailing on behalf of the 150+ members of this Citizen2Citizen group. I’m going to send this email on Monday. HB 31 is a response to actions taken in schools like Pace High School Principal Frank Lay’s school which banned the faculty from wearing crosses and required them to put away their Bibles. The bill prohibits school boards and administrative personnel from taking any action to infringe on the rights or freedoms afforded teachers, staff or students by the First Amendment of the Constitution.

HB 1399 proposes a Constitutional Amendment repealing the limit on the power of the state to spend money directly and indirectly on church or religious institutions. It further adds language that an individual may not be barred from participating in a public program because that individual freely chooses to use his benefits at a religious provider of services.

Let freedom ring, not burn

With the health care bill that was passed yesterday, a ball started rolling that over the next 4-8 years will fundamentally transform America into a socialist state, unless we can stop it.

A cursory study of history reveals some valuable lessons we can learn from the Roman empire. Rome was built on the rule of law with a form of representative government that allowed for individuals to prosper based on their own abilities and hard work.

The turning point in the fall of Rome came when people abandoned those principals and figured out that they could elect corrupt leaders who would give them certain entitlements. Who wouldn’t take up that offer? Hard work is overrated when you can live off of others via government intervention.

This abandonment of principal led to corruption, instability and ultimately financial and societal collapse. With the passage of this health care legislation, we are taking a giant leap forward down this very path.

Florida Freedom Project

Now is the time for action. We can sit around and wonder how this happened, or we can do something about it. November can’t come soon enough, but much can be accomplished before then.

Here’s what you can do: Volunteer for the Florida Freedom Project. We are gathering signatures for the Florida Health Care Freedom (Obamacare nullification) Act. You can read about this project here. We are collecting citizen co-sponsors to help raise public awareness so that this issue can be put on the ballot in November.

All politics is local. If we change things on a local level, we will do our part to slow the progressive momentum long enough to overturn their unconstitutional actions all together.

If you haven’t been following, this weekend could be a decisive one for the healthcare debate. Pressure on politicians is immense. The Capitol phone system is ringing at 100,000 calls per hour. The vote will be Sunday or Monday in all probability. It’s going to be a close vote, probably a few votes deciding whether America is fundamentally changed by socialized medicine and government run healthcare. The democrats are planning unconstitutional parliamentary tactics to “deem” that the bill has passed without a vote. We’ve never seen anything like this in our nation’s history, and there has potentially never been a more important weekend in recent history.

Although tens of thousands are going to Washington, we’re going to visit Suzanne Kosmas, a pivotal undecided vote, and to warn her against voting for this disasterous bill. Special thanks to our own Phyliss Reinhardt for taking the lead on this.

Obamacare: Is it dead?

On Thursday the President has scheduled a televised meeting between Democrats and Republicans to try to resurrect a health care overhaul that Americans have pretty strongly opposed. I wrote a letter that you can print and send to your representatives. You can also write your own if you like.

Here’s what you can do this week:

1. Write your Democratic Representatives and warn them about the political danger of supporting this unpopular initiative.
2. Write your Republican Representatives and thank them for being the “Party of No”. Tell them the country is behind them and they can use Thursday’s PR event to boost their own ratings by voicing the people’s opposition.

Steps to Contacting Your Rep:

1. Download one of these letters (or write your own): Democrat version – Republican version.
2. Open the file, insert your representative’s name, and address. If you need to find out who your reps are and get their address, try signing up at this site.
3. Print the document, sign it, fax it and mail it to both their local office and Washington, DC office as well. If you don’t have a fax machine, email me your letter and I’ll fax it.

Please be engaged. Obamacare is not dead yet. Let’s put the proverbial nail in the coffin.
